SKILLSTORM APPOINTS LAURIE CHUA AS DIRECTOR, HUMAN
RESOURCES
San Diego, California
(November 3, 2009) – SkillStorm,
the industry’s fastest-growing Information Technology, Engineering and Project
Management staff augmentation and outsourcing company, has appointed Laurie
Chua as Director, Human Resources, effective immediately. With more than 17 years of experience in the
Human Resources industry, she is responsible for coordinating all human
resources support functions for all SkillStorm
employees, based at 14 office locations nationwide. She is in charge of the development,
implementation, administration and management of all human resources programs,
guidelines, policies and procedures for the entire company. Chua is based out of the San Diego,
California office.

Chua
formerly served as a Principal Consultant for a private human resources
consulting firm in the San Diego area.
In this role, she was responsible for workforce optimization, human
resource compliance and effectiveness audits, developing retention programs,
talent and performance management programs and training staff members on
effective human resource practices and policies. Chua was also the Human Resources Director
for an international web data and email security software company. In this role, she oversaw human resource
functions to prepare for planned organizational growth; guided the development
of a full spectrum and scalable HR operations, programs, policies, and systems
to ensure successful integration and assimilation of new and existing employees;
and partnered with senior management to create compensation, incentives,
recognition, talent management, and employee engagement solutions based on the
needs of their business. While in this
position, Chua played a key role in developing an HR infrastructure
instrumental in driving company growth from $100 million to $300 million
annually and expanding the employee base from 450 to 1200 employees within 2
years. She also reduced turnover from a
high of 31% to 21% by increased management focus and coaching, aggressive
performance management, establishing competitive pay practices, and developing
employee recognition programs.
Previously,
Chua also served as the Senior HR Generalist for a Fortune 50 pharmaceutical
research and development group. She
implemented an HR Business Partner model for a newly acquired research and
development site with a budget of $15 million in salaries and research/assets
of $200 million. Chua was also an HR
Generalist for a Fortune 50 computer company, a role where she was responsible
for organizational development programs including career development,
succession planning, respect in the workplace, performance management,
compensation planning, career ladders, competency modeling and alignment in
order to create high performing, drive for results teams.
Chua
holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the
University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
She is a certified Senior Human Resource Professional and Employee
Retention Specialist. Chua is also a
Development Dimensions International (DDI) Certified Trainer.
Chua
has been a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) since
1992. She is also a San Diego Society
for Human Resource Management (SDSHRM) member and was formerly a board member
for the Arkansas Human Resource Association.
Chua has been the on-site coordinator and participant in the MS Walk, an
event benefiting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and has also raised
money in support of Hurricane Katrina victims. In addition, she is a
coordinator and supporter of Toys for Tots and an avid supporter of the
American Diabetes Association. Chua also
volunteers on a regular basis at Black Mountain Middle School in San Diego.
